What is Lip Filler?

If you are bothered by your naturally thin lips or lip asymmetry, lip fillers are a great way to enhance your appearance. While these fillers are commonly used to enhance lip volume, they also address lip asymmetry and vertical lip lines, which can target multiple concerns in one treatment.

We offer several types of hyaluronic acid dermal fillers made specifically for lip augmentation. Hyaluronic acid is a natural substance that gently plumps the skin and hydrates it for a beautiful, radiant glow. Hyaluronic acid fillers like JUVÉDERM Ultra XC and VOLBELLA® XC and RHA Redensity have a soft, flexible formula that works well with the delicate skin of the lips and creates natural-looking results.

How Do Lip Fillers Work?

The lip filler procedure begins with a consultation at our office in Birmingham. Our nurse practitioner and injection specialist will discuss your medical history and treatment goals to determine which type of filler is best for you. Lip filler injections are made using a fine needle; they are commonly injected into the upper lip but can also be placed in the lower lip.

These lip injections are virtually painless aside from the tiny pinprick of the needle. Some fillers contain a numbing agent called lidocaine which will alleviate discomfort. After your procedure, you can immediately return to your daily activities. Results can be seen after a few days and last an average of 10-15 months.
